“Free from sexism and sexual harassment at school”
School-related gender-based violence involves acts or threats of sexual, physical or psychological violence occurring inside and around schools, perpetrated because of gender norms and stereotypes. Still, we fail to protect students from negative social phenomena like sexism, sexual harassment and homophobic violence. These behaviours have taken many forms, due to the digitalisation of the social sphere, making our societies and victims more vulnerable.
The overall objective of FREASCO is to facilitate the early detection and reporting of sexism and sexual harassment; to prevent gender-based violence through the development of digital tools; to provide guidance to schools and universities and support to policy makers in general.
FREASCO will design and provide a set of tools to help schools and universities to tackle sexism and sexual harassment:
• Multilanguage online self-assessment tool for schools and universities, with an interactive database of
open educational resources;
• Quality label for schools that meet minimum standards, providing tools and resources for anonymous
• Guidance and best practices to design public policies on sexism and sexual harassment in schools;
• Capacity building guidance and online assistance for contextualized organisational empowerment based on the existing strength factors and skills of school staff.
